‘Inspiring’ Our Money, Our Future toolkit wins Youth on Board award

Our Money, Our Future – a campaigning toolkit developed by a group of young people working with financial education charity pfeg (Personal Finance Education Group) and the National Children’s Bureau – has won a British Youth Council ‘Youth on Board’ award for engaging young people.

Our Money, Our Future is a toolkit to help young people campaign for high quality financial education to be taught in their school.  Developed by a group of 12 young people from across the UK, the toolkit received the ‘Inspiring Project Award’ at the British Youth Council’s Youth on Board awards event in Parliament yesterday (17th December 2012).

The Youth on Board awards are judged exclusively by a panel of elected young people, with the Inspiring Project Award recognising efforts made by projects to “engage young people and give them a voice”.

Speaking after the award ceremony, pfeg chief executive Tracey Bleakley said:  “We are delighted for the young people who worked so hard to develop the Our Money, Our Future toolkit.  It is absolutely crucial that we get young people actively involved in the campaign for financial education in schools – they are a key part of our campaign.

“We urgently need to ensure that every young person leaves school with the skills, knowledge and confidence to manage their money well – and Our Money, Our Future enables young people to help us achieve that goal.”
