This case study and supporting videos (see below) detail how Southlands High School have embedded personal finance education through an innovative peer mentoring scheme.

My Money Week

My Money Week is the national themed activity week which pfeg runs annually in June. There are loads more free resources, exciting ideas, videos and competitions all on our My Money Week microsite.

With support from the Debt Advice foundation and pfeg, the students have already reached over 1000 other students, and have big plans for further dissemination.

There are three supporting videos:

  • 'Peer mentoring - Southlands High School' shows year 10 mentors from Southlands School in action during a workshop with year 5 pupils from feeder primaries

  • 'Peer mentoring - St Peter's Primary and Southlands High School' follows one group of year 5 pupils from St Peter’s Primary School in Chorley delivering the lesson to their peers, supported by the year 10 (now in year 11) mentors from Southlands School

  • 'The Money Diaries - Southlands High School & Debt Advice Foundation' explains how the peer mentoring scheme uses the pfeg Quality Mark resource 'Money Diaries' which was produced by Southlands school and the Debt Advice Foundation.
